Russians hit Kharkiv region railway station with Iskander missile twice, killing a rescuer and a policeman: dozens of people wounded. Photo and video

On July 13, Russian troops attacked the village of Budy in Kharkiv district twice. A rescuer and a police officer were killed, and 25 other people were injured, including children.

Within an hour after the first attack, when ambulance and rescuers arrived at the scene, the invaders struck again, and a social infrastructure facility was hit.

As of 7:34 p.m., Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that a rescuer and a police officer were killed in a second Russian strike.

"This afternoon, enemy troops launched a missile attack on the village of Budy in Kharkiv district. When emergency services arrived at the scene, Russian terrorists struck the same location a second time," he wrote on Telegram.

The attack killed the head of the Kharkiv District Department of the State Emergency Service in Kharkiv region, Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil Protection Service Artem Kostyria and a police officer of the patrol police response sector of the Kharkiv District Police Department, Senior Police Sergeant Oleksiy Koshchiy.

Three rescuers, a police officer and more than 20 civilians were injured.

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, later clarified that the Russians had shelled railway facilities.

"Two people were killed. Among them is Artem Kostyria, the head of the Kharkiv District Department of the State Emergency Service in Kharkiv region," Syniehubov wrote.

Twenty-two people were injured: 16 men and 6 women aged 14 to 81. Two people are in serious condition, 13 are in moderate condition, and the rest are in light condition. The official noted that the enemy deliberately struck twice with an interval of half an hour, when all specialized services were already at the sites of the previous attack.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, five railroad workers were repotedly injured: a driver, a station manager, a station attendant, a senior track master, and a train driver. Three railroad workers were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds and concussion, and two others were treated on the spot. The railroad cars were damaged, and the fires caused by the enemy strike were promptly localized.

"The enemy continues to attack the railway infrastructure every day. Our facilities near the front line in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and southern Ukraine are most affected," the statement said.

As of 20:25, the Prosecutor General's Office reports that the Russian Armed Forces attacked a village in Kharkiv region using the tactic of a repeated attack, killing a rescuer and a police officer, and injuring more than 20 people. A pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder, has been launched (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, on July 13, at about 15:40, the Russian armed forces launched a missile attack on the railway station in the village of Budy, Kharkiv district. After the services arrived at the scene, Russian troops hit the same location once again.

Railroad infrastructure, residential buildings, and cars were damaged. According to preliminary data, the Russian Armed Forces hit the village with two Iskander-M missiles.

Prosecutors, police investigators, and the Security Service of Ukraine are taking all possible and appropriate measures to document war crimes committed by Russian military personnel.
