Russian troops attacked Kyiv with "Shaheds"

On the night of November 2, Russian troops again attacked Kyiv with "Shaheds". The invaders hit residential buildings in six districts of the city.

Debris was recorded falling in Solomyanskyi district, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported. In Sviatoshynskyi district, a fire broke out in a 16-story building, partially destroying the upper floors, and there are victims, while in Shevchenkivskyi district, an office building was damaged.

According to the KCIA, at 9 a.m., there were reports of debris falling in six districts of the capital: Solomyanskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Pecherskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts. All the fires that broke out at the impact sites were extinguished by then.

Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, criminal proceedings have been initiated over violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region.

"In Sviatoshynskyi district, a fire broke out in an apartment on the top floor of a 16-storey building, the residents managed to escape from the building. So far, two victims have been reported: an elderly woman with an acute stress reaction from a neighboring building and a police officer. In the other five districts, windows and balconies in apartments and cars were damaged. Rescuers and law enforcement officers are working at the scene," the Prosecutor General's Office said.

They also showed what the apartments in the affected 16-story building look like.

The city authorities began reporting the first consequences of the attack before 6 am.

"As a result of the attack of the Russian armed forces on Kyiv, debris fell in the Solomyanskyi district of the city, on the territory of residential buildings. Preliminary, window glazing was damaged in several houses. There was no information on casualties or damage," said Serhii Popko, head of the KCMC, at 05:42.

He later added that the attack damaged at least five cars parked near the crash site.

Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko said that ambulances were sent to the Sviatoshinskyi district of the capital.

"Calling medics to Sviatoshynskyi district. According to preliminary information, a fire broke out in a residential building as a result of debris," the statement said.

The fire occurred on the upper floors of a 16-story residential building.

"As a result of the UAV attack, there was a fire on an area of 50 square meters and partial destruction in apartments on the 15th and 16th floors of a 16-storey residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the city. Rescuers are evacuating the building's residents. Information about the victims is being clarified," the SES said.

"There is currently one injured person in Sviatoshynskyi district in a residential building where a fire broke out as a result of a UAV debris hit. The man was treated by medics on the spot," Klychko said.

As of 8 a.m., the number of injured increased to two people. One of them was hospitalized, the other was treated on the spot.

"A patrol policeman who was helping residents of a burning house in Sviatoshynskyi district was hospitalized, preliminary diagnosis – poisoning by combustion products. Another victim, a resident of the same district, was treated by doctors without hospitalization," the National Police said.

As of 07:30, the fire in the 16-story building has been extinguished.

"Rescuers evacuated 18 residents of the building, one person was injured. Nine vehicles and 40 rescuers are working at the scene," the State Emergency Service said.

In addition, a non-residential building in the territory of a private building was damaged in Sviatoshynskyi district.

A fire was also reported in a 9-storey building in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv, but it later turned out to be a domestic fire and not related to an enemy attack: the fire occurred in one of the apartments on an area of 2 square meters.

However, it later became known that localized fires broke out on several balconies of apartment buildings. As of 9 a.m., the information was being updated.

There were no reports of casualties.

Meanwhile, in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, debris fell on an office building.

"In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the fragments of a drone hit a multi-story office building. Preliminary, there was a fire on one of the floors. Emergency services are at the scene," Klychko said.

He informed about the call of rescuers to the Shevchenkivskyi district shortly before 9 am.

The KCSA added that a fire broke out between the 3rd and 4th floors of an inactive multi-storey building in the Shevchenkivskyi district on an area of 2 square meters. The fire was extinguished, and no one was injured.

In Pecherskyi district, an 8-storey residential building's balcony was damaged. There were no injuries and no fire.

The night in the Kyiv region was not without consequences. As a result of a Russian attack in the region, an 82-year-old woman sustained shrapnel wounds.

"The victim was taken to a district hospital with head wounds and a hypertensive crisis. Her condition is satisfactory. She is receiving all the necessary medical care. Operational services are currently recording damage to residential buildings as a result of falling debris from downed enemy targets," said Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

The consequences of the attack were recorded in several districts of Kyiv region.

"As of 11:20 am, six private houses, two outbuildings, and a car wash were damaged in several districts of the region... Investigators will initiate criminal proceedings over the violation of the laws and customs of war under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the Kyiv regional police said.

By 12:00, according to updated information, the consequences of the attack were known in four districts of the region. Shrapnel from the "Shahed" damaged 8 private houses, an apartment in a multi-storey building, and two outbuildings.

"The damage is minor – windows and doors were smashed, facades and roofs were damaged. In addition, power lines were damaged. As of now, 1,860 subscribers in one of the region's settlements are without electricity. Also, a combine harvester burned down in a private household as a result of falling debris from the downed targets," Kravchenko said.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to another drone terror in Ukraine.

"Constant terrorist attacks on Ukrainian cities prove that the pressure on Russia and its accomplices is not enough. Today, since four in the morning, an air alert has been in place in Ukrainian cities. Unfortunately, the attack of Russian drones caused damage and casualties in different parts of Kyiv. There were also strikes and damage in Poltava, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions," the Head of State noted.

He reminded that terror can be stopped only by depriving Russia of the opportunity to produce or purchase weapons from Iran and the DPRK, as well as by destroying them in warehouses in Russia and in the workshops where they are produced.

"I am grateful to our defenders of the sky who shoot down the Shaheds every night. This year, almost every night, sometimes in the morning and during the day, there is a threat of Shaheds. These are the attack drones given to Russia by Iran, which have become one of the main tools of Russian terror against Ukraine. We need to put more pressure on Russia's ability to produce such weapons. We need to be able to destroy the storage bases of the "Shahed" and the entire infrastructure for their production and logistics. Terrorists, unfortunately, know how to use the time given to them by the indecision of the free world," the President emphasized.

The air alert in Kyiv was announced at 04:54. A minute later, the KIAA called on Kyiv residents to immediately go to shelters, and two minutes later, Popko said that air defense was operating in the capital.

To recap, Russia launched the first Shaheds, which opened the countdown to the night attack, before 8 p.m. on November 1. They flew in several groups. The launches lasted all night.

It was also reported that a Shahed hit a high-rise building in Sumy. At least five people were injured, including a pregnant woman. Residents of two damaged high-rise buildings were left without electricity and gas.
