Explosive ordnance contaminated 128,000 square kilometers of land and 14,000 square kilometers of water in Ukraine. This is a consequence of Russia's large-scale invasion.

This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Defense. It is noted that the war has a significant impact on the safety of civilians, agriculture, industry, and socio-economic growth in the affected regions.

"These risks have a negative impact on the lives of more than 6 million Ukrainians," said Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, Head of the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety, Head of the Secretariat of the National Mine Action Authority, at a thematic forum during Security 2.0*.

He presented the current situation, and achievements and outlined the next steps to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian demining in Ukraine.

Ruslan Berehulia also thanked Ukraine's international partners for their support and assistance.

"Thanks to our joint efforts, we will free our land from explosive ordnance meter by meter and create powerful tools to realize the humanitarian goals of mine action," he said.

Berehulia also emphasized that such cooperation in the regions affected by the aggressor's actions will help create a safe environment, return the temporarily displaced persons, and restore economic development.

The forum "Financial Principles in Humanitarian Demining and Principles of Compensation in the Agricultural Sector" was held in Kyiv during the Security 2.0 exhibition dedicated to the field of security equipment and technologies, humanitarian demining, civil protection, and first aid.

As a reminder, in Sumy region, mobile teams of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police neutralized two enemy air attack vehicles in two days. These were a warhead of an aircraft bomb and a Russian Shahed-136 UAV.
