ROC temples, nesting dolls and the Kremlin. Ukrainian woman in Cyprus rented a house with traces of the "Russian world": the owner's reaction surprised her

Ukrainian woman in Cyprus rented an apartment with a "pro-Russian interior"

A Ukrainian tourist rented an apartment near the resort town of Larnaca in Cyprus, and once inside, she saw many traces of the Russian world. In particular, there were magnets with images of the Kremlin, Russian churches, and nesting dolls on the refrigerator.

The Ukrainian woman talked to the owners of the apartment to find out whether they had "decorated" their home with such elements themselves. The woman shared their answers, as well as her own impressions, in an exclusive commentary for OBOZ.UA.

As it turned out, the magnets were left in the apartment by former guests from the terrorist country. But the owners of the apartment were a couple of immigrants-a refugee from the Turkish-occupied part of Cyprus and his wife from Lithuania.

What struck the Ukrainian tourist as most unpleasant was that a five-hryvnia bill with the image of Bohdan Khmelnytsky was attached to a magnet with a photo of Red Square. When the owners realized that they were dealing with a Ukrainian, they hastily put the bill away. But they did not touch the magnets with the Kremlin and nesting dolls. Then our compatriot decided to ask directly what the owners of the apartment thought about Russians.

"There are still a lot of Russian tourists, but I believe that all Russians who come to Cyprus are against the war," the Ukrainian woman quoted the homeowner as saying.

The Lithuanian emigrant, according to the tourist, also emphasized that Cyprus had accepted many Ukrainian refugees after February 24, "providing them with good living conditions." However, Ukrainians found it doubtful that the owners ask all their guests from Russia what their position is on the war.

"It is doubtful that the owners ask Russian clients about their position on the war before accepting them as clients, and all that matters is the rubles they leave there, giving a small handout to needy Ukrainians to ease their conscience, because they know which side the truth is on," the Ukrainian commented.

The woman also shared that the next day she rented an apartment on the same booking service on the other side of Cyprus, in the city of Paphos. There, she also decided to ask the owners whether they accepted tourists from Russia, and if so, under what conditions. This time, the owners turned out to be Poles. They, unlike their previous colleagues, assured her that there were Russian tourists, but not many of them - "mostly Russians who are residents of Cyprus."

"The owners refused to comment on whether it is right to rent housing to citizens of the aggressor country. Once again, we can conclude that Europeans continue to believe that only Putin is bad, but Russians are good, and that they are also just victims in this situation and need support," the Ukrainian woman shared her observations with us.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, a Ukrainian woman found herself in an unpleasant situation during her working visit to Oslo, Norway. The woman rented an apartment in the center of the capital, using the services of a well-known housing search platform, but once inside, she was shocked by the "pro-Russian interior" of the apartment. In particular, she was greeted by a bust of Lenin and offered to sleep on a bed with nesting dolls image on it.
