Revenge again: Usyk's next opponent has been announced
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt holder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) will be the next opponent of Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 24 KOs). However, this will only happen if the Briton defeats New Zealander Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) on February 22 and defends his title.
This was stated in an interview with The Stomping Ground YouTube channel by Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the General Directorate of Entertainment in Saudi Arabia, who is the main organizer of boxing matches in the world today. According to him, Usyk deservedly defeated Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) in a rematch on December 21.
"I think Usyk won. He won four rounds more. Tyson did everything, he had a terrific fight, but that's boxing: there's a winner and a loser. Next, if Dubois wins in February, I want to see Usyk and Dubois fight again. And I want to see Tyson, maybe with Anthony Joshua or someone else, we'll decide," said the Arab.
It should be noted that Usyk and Dubois met in August 2023. Back then, the Ukrainian won by TKO in the ninth round, and the Briton scored a dirty punch below the belt.
As a reminder, all three judges of the Usyk vs. Fury 2 fight gave the victory to the Ukrainian boxer with a score of 116-112. In addition, it became known what result was recorded by artificial intelligence. After the fight, it was "disqualified."
Former champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) gave his version of the rounds. And the legendary Lennox Lewis admitted that he was not impressed with the fight.
In addition, promoter Eddie Hearn disputed the score of the rematch between Usyk and Fury. In turn, the British media learned what Tyson was told before the 12th round of the fight.
At the same time, impressive statistics of the opponents' punches in the fight were published. A photo showed what Fury's face looked like after 100 missed punches from Usyk.
After the victory, the Ukrainian boxer decided on his next opponent and also made a confession about his rematch with Tyson.
