Rare photos reveal the best-loved pastime of Kyiv citizens 120 years ago

Old photos not only allow us to see what the capital of Ukraine used to be like, but also to learn about its inhabitants. In particular, how Kyiv residents used to relax in the City Garden more than 120 years ago.

The old photo was posted in the kiev.klab community on Facebook. Fortunately, this place has survived to this day.

"A favorite pastime of Kyivites of all times is walking along the picturesque cliffs. It's really very inspiring, as there's a lot to see. Photos from the 1900s," the post reads.

The published photos show how Kyiv residents were walking, according to the captions on the photos, along the Tsarsky Garden - today this place is better known as the City Garden, located between Mariinskyi and Khreshchatyi Parks.
