The fight ended in the 9th round

Frank Warren, the promoter of British heavyweight Daniel Dubois (19-2, 18 KOs), said he would appeal the decision of the World Boxing Association (WBA). On October 13, the WBA rejected Dubois' team's appeal against the result of the fight with Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).

Representatives of the British boxer intended to have the result of the fight canceled due to the actions of referee Luis Pabon, who in the fifth round of the fight recorded a punch below the belt from our compatriot's opponent.

"We re-read the decision and appealed it. They did not answer the main reason for our complaint regarding the time the referee gave Usyk to recover, as well as his (the referee's) instructions. They did not even begin to consider this issue. There is not a word about it in any documents they sent us. So we will continue to try to do what's right for Daniel," Warren said on the iFL TV YouTube channel.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on August 26, the Usyk-Dubois fight ended in the 9th round when the Briton missed a heavy punch to the head. In total, Oleksandr landed 88 punches.

New twist in Dubois-Usyk case on the result of the fight

In the 5th round, the British boxer hit our compatriot below the belt. It took Usyk 5 minutes to recover, lying in the ring.

Video evidence of Dubois hitting Usyk below the belt on purpose appeared online after a while.

Later, Usyk's catman Anber came to the Sky Sports studio, where he analyzed this episode in the Ukrainian's fight, citing undeniable facts of foul play.

The World Boxing Association (WBA) has published a statement regarding the scandal in the fight between Oleksandr and Daniel. A similar step was taken by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
