Lomachenko tells when he will end his career

Former world champion in three weight categories Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) has admitted that he is already preparing to end his career. According to the 36-year-old native of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, it is harder for him to recover from grueling fights, but he plans to return to the ring after his May 12 fight against George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs).

Lomachenko said this in an interview with Fox Sports Australia, Boxing News 24/7 reports. At the same time, the two-time Olympic champion found it difficult to answer the question of when exactly he would hang up his boxing gloves, adding that he was fully focused on the fight.

"If we talk about age in boxing and weight classes, I agree... I am an old man. My career, of course, is almost over. One, two, three years will pass and that's it. But I still think I have a little bit of strength. It's a difficult question when exactly I'm going to retire. At this stage, every fight is hard. It's hard to recover from fights. I don't know what will happen to my body after the fight with Kambosos, so I can't give you an answer to this question when I will finish my career," Lomachenko said.

As a reminder, the Lomachenko-Kambosos fight will take place in Perth. The week before last, it became known that Ukraine refused to broadcast the fight. Fans were told where to watch the fight in this case.

Earlier, Kambosos shared his expectations for the fight with Lomachenko, promising to knock the Ukrainian's head off. Vasyl and George were supposed to fight in the summer of 2022, but the Ukrainian refused because of Russia's attack on Ukraine. At the same time, the Australian recently got into a scandal by inviting a Russian boxer who supports the war to his camp to prepare for the fight.

After it became known that Vasyl and George were going to fight, the Ukrainian was excluded from several world rankings. Lomachenko himself came to the meeting with the Ukrainians in Perth wearing a T-shirt with the image of a dove of peace.
