The moment caused a huge stir in the boxing world

On the undercard of the Lomachenko-Kambosos fight, 29-year-old New Zealand-Australian boxer Cherneka Johnson (16-2, 6 KOs) beat 41-year-old Englishwoman Nina Hughes (6-1, 2 KOs) to win the WBA lightweight title. During the announcement of the winner, the ring announcer made a mistake, initially awarding the victory to Hughes.

The fight was an evenly contested affair, but with a noticeable advantage for Cherneka. However, amidst the audience's astonished shouts, it was announced that the boxer from England had won by a majority decision - 95:95, 96:94, 92:98.

At that moment, Hughes began to celebrate, and her team began to console Cherneka. But the WBA supervisor immediately ran up to the ring announcer and asked him to change everything.

As a result, the winner was announced once again, but this time in favor of Johnson.

This event caused a great stir in the boxing world. Fans and experts call the incident incredible. The video got about 700 thousand views in a day.

"I've never seen anything like this in a boxing match before. In the title fight, the announcer announces the wrong person as the winner. How unprofessional. Imagine the emotions of Cherneka Johnson and Nina Hughes when they lost/won the title," they wrote on social media.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, in the main fight of the show in Perth, Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) defeated Australian George Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) and won the IBF world title.

After Lomachenko punched the Australian right in the liver, he took a knee, and the referee counted the knockdown. George got up, but the fight didn't last long. A few seconds later, Vasyl knocked his opponent out with another punch to the body.

It should be reminded that after the victory, Vasyl did not mention Ukraine. During a flash interview in the ring, the 36-year-old native of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi thanked God, his opponent and "all the people."

Later, the judges' notes were published, which made it clear who won until the 11th round.

We would like to remind you that in his last fight on May 21, Lomachenko lost to WBC, IBF, WBA Super, WBO titles holder Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) and failed to become an absolute champion. The lightweight fight in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena lasted all 12 rounds and ended with a unanimous decision of 116-112, 115-113, 115-113.
