"I've made history": Lomachenko's offender gives up all championship belts

American boxer Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) announced that he has relinquished the championship belts he defended in his fight against Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) in May this year. The 25-year-old US representative said he decided to leave the lightweight division and move up to a heavier weight class.

Haney said this in an interview with ESPN. According to him, he lost his motivation in the lightweight division, and the only opponent who could compete with him is Jervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs), but he categorically refused to enter the ring with his compatriot.

"I did everything I could in the lightweight division. The biggest fight for me would have been with Gervonta, but his team didn't show any interest in it. I've outgrown this division, so now I'm looking to become a two-division champion. After this fight, I hope to become a three-division champion and move up in weight. I made history, I became an absolute world champion. But now I'm at the point in my career where I want to fight the biggest and best fights in the world," said Haney.

As a reminder, Vasyl Lomachenko lost to Devin Haney by unanimous decision, which caused a lot of controversy among fans and experts. The unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) called it a robbery of the Ukrainian.

Promoter Bob Arum has shared his plans for Vasyl Lomachenko's career, noting that the Ukrainian boxer intends to regain his championship belts. He also denied the information that our compatriot is ending his career.
