It's official. UEFA has not included Russia in the League of Nations for the 2024/2025 season
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has not included the Russian national team in the draw for the Nations League for the 2024/25 season, according to a release on the organization's website. This means the team's automatic non-participation in the tournament.
The draw will take place on February 8, 2024 in Paris. The tournament will feature 54 teams divided into Leagues A, B, C and D. Ukraine will start its journey in the tournament in League B.
Following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 28, 2022, UEFA and the International Football Federation (FIFA) suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in international matches.
The Russian national team did not play in the last edition of the Nations League, which dropped them from Division B to Division C.
In total, the Russian national team has played 11 friendly matches since the sanctions began. It won four of them, lost one, and drew six more.
As a reminder, Ukraine will take part in the Euro 2024 soccer draw despite failing to qualify for the finals through the qualifying tournament.
