"It seemed unbelievable": former world champion tells why Usyk is much better than Fury

Groves praised the fight between Usyk and Fury

Former world middleweight champion George Groves continues to insist that Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) will defeat Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) in a fight on May 18. The 35-year-old Briton strongly disagrees with the idea that his compatriot will win due to his size advantage.

Groves expressed this opinion in an interview with the talkSport Boxing YouTube channel, Boxing News 24/7 reports. The ex-boxer noted that Usyk has exceptional skills and will simply exhaust Fury with his sharpness of throwing punches and speed of movement around the ring.

"I've always said: Usyk is a dark horse. Don't write this guy off. We've seen heavyweights rise to the heavyweight division before and dominate it. Many people thought it was unbelievable that he would never compete with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. I still think Usyk will beat him. He is an exceptional fighter. In terms of boxing ability, Usyk is much better," Groves said.

Last week, the broadcaster of the Usyk-Fury fight in Ukraine was announced and the cost of the show was determined. Former world champion Andy Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) made his forecast for the fight. Jordan Thompson (15-1, 12 KOs), the sparring partner of the two rivals, also shared his expectations for the duel.

New details of the two fights between Usyk and Fury have also emerged, including a rematch in October this year. Tyson himself has already confirmed that he does not intend to refuse fight #2 against the Ukrainian. Oleksandr's team also named a boxer who will replace the Briton if he refuses to enter the ring on May 18.

Former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) has again given a prediction for the Usyk-Fury fight. In addition, the fight was evaluated by the former rival of the Ukrainian Tony Bellew.
