ISW: Russia started talking about the implementation of full war economy

Russia calls to implement full war economy

The Russian pro-Kremlin "military" propagandist, who is usually optimistic about the prospects of the aggressor country, suddenly started talking about the need to fully mobilize the Russian economy and military-industrial base to defeat Ukraine. This relatively pessimistic assessment was made after the publication of an essay by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, on the topic of "positional warfare."

The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) drew attention to this. Experts published a new report on the morning of Wednesday, November 8, on the website of the think tank.

The ISW noted that a well-known pro-war blogger had expressed the opinion a day earlier, on November 7, that Ukraine was aiming for a "debilitating war" against Russia. In his opinion, Moscow needs "a huge combat potential" and "an accurate calculation" of its capabilities to win.

Another Russian "military expert" expressed surprise that his colleague, who had previously been so positive about Russia's offensive campaign, openly acknowledged the need for greater mobilization of the Russian economy before a prolonged war.

It seems that the Kremlin does not want to fully militarize the economy. ISW believes that the call by the Russian "military man" to change this line "deserves attention."

Another Russian blogger said that Russia is "paying a terrible price" for the Kremlin's unwillingness to be fully focused on the war against Ukraine.

"The military bloggers' proposal to further mobilize the Russian economy appears to be part of recent discussions in the Russian information space about operational changes that could help Russian troops overcome problems in Ukraine, probably in response to a recent essay by Ukrainian General and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny on 'positional warfare'," the analysts said.

They suggested that Zaluzhny's article seems to have prompted even the most positive "military" propagandists to "make more direct and honest assessments of Russian military efforts."

As OBOZ.UA wrote:

- In a recent article for The Economist, Valery Zaluzhny explained what steps Ukraine needs to take to eventually defeat the Russian occupiers.

- According to the Commander-in-Chief, our country needs new innovative technologies to win. "The simple fact is that we see everything the enemy does, and they see everything we do. To break this deadlock, we need something new," the general said.

- The White House said that Zaluzhny's article proves the need to support Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia.
