How to stimulate lush violet blooms: an effective way
The Usambar violet or Saintpaulia is one of the most popular indoor plants. Although its care is quite specific, it is not difficult in general, but not everyone manages to achieve lush flowering from the violet.
Meanwhile, it is not so difficult to make the flower produce buds regularly. OBOZ.UA has collected tips from experienced growers.
First of all, take care of the right size pot. The diameter of the vessel should be about a third smaller than the diameter of the rosette of violet leaves. The flower does not like too much space – it begins to invest energy in growing roots and does not bloom.
Make sure that the pot with the plant is not in direct sunlight. The plant feels much better in diffused light. However, do not keep the violet in a dark place either.
Watering the violet should be moderate and indirect. Water getting on the leaves can cause the entire plant to rot. Therefore, it is better to pour water into a tray and remove the excess from it.
Once every 4-6 months, it is worth cleaning the leaves from dust. However, since Saintpaulia leaves are covered with villi, this should be done with a soft brush and very carefully so as not to damage them.
A comfortable temperature for the plant is 15-25 degrees. It is important not to let it freeze.
And make sure the flower is adequately nourished. It is better to use fertilizer for flowering plants but dilute it more strongly than the instructions recommend. It is important that the violet regularly receives nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium – these are the main nutrients it needs.
