An embroidered shirt has long been considered a folk amulet and a symbol of the unbreakable bond between generations. Nowadays, among the many styles and patterns, everyone can find an embroidered shirt to suit their preferences. To make your favorite embroidered dress or shirt last as long as possible and not lose its bright colors, the fabric should be properly cared for.

OBOZ.UA has figured out how to wash, dry and iron an embroidered shirt so as not to damage the threads and fibers. Machine washing is not suitable for delicate fabrics.

How to wash embroidery

Embroidered items are best washed by hand at a temperature of about 30-40 °C.

The clothes should be soaked in warm, soapy water. Aggressive components such as bleach or chlorine should not be used - the threads may lose color. Experts advise using soap chips instead of laundry detergent.

If there is a stain on the fabric, it should be lightly rubbed. But avoid friction in places where there is embroidery, because there is a risk of damage to the product.

Rinse the embroidered shirt in warm water, thoroughly washing away all the products that can accumulate between the fibers. At the rinsing stage, you can add vinegar (in the proportion of 1 teaspoon to 1 liter of water).

If the embroidery is made of ordinary cotton fabric and the embroidery is not very colorful, you can try machine washing. You should choose a delicate or hand wash mode, with a low temperature and without spinning. The embroidered shirt should be turned out and placed in a special bag or a white pillowcase.

How to dry embroidery

After rinsing, there is no need to twist the fabric too much. Just shake off the water gently and wrap the shirt in a terry towel.

It is better to dry the embroidery on a horizontal surface. If you hang it in the usual way, the product may stretch. Do not dry the embroidery in direct sunlight, as the threads may fade.

How to iron an embroidered shirt

Embroidered items should be ironed only through gauze or fabric. The embroidery should be slightly damp.

Choose a moderate temperature on the iron, turn the shirt out and place the gauze on top. After ironing, the clothes can be hung on a hanger.
