Greek island offers a scholarship for moving there: what are the conditions

The dream of living a peaceful life on a picturesque Greek island can become a reality thanks to a program on Antikythera in the Aegean Sea. The island, located between Crete and the Peloponnese, invites new residents by offering a monthly stipend of 500 euros for three years.

The initiative is aimed at combating population decline and attracting young families, as most of the current residents are over 50 years old, the Daily Express reports.

Each family that moves to Antikythera will be able to receive a total of 18,000 euros over three years. In addition, free housing and meals are offered. The island promises a peaceful rural life with access to electricity and internet, although there is only one grocery store with basic goods during the winter months.

The island currently has only 45 permanent residents, creating a close-knit and friendly community. Particular attention is paid to attracting young families in order to restore youthful energy to the island and ensure its development. Antikythera can be reached by ferry from Crete or the neighboring island of Kythira.
