Anora, a film by American director Sean Baker, has won the Palme d'Or, the top award at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The winners were announced on May 25.

The Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival has been awarded to the film Anora, starring Russian actors Yuri Borisov and Mark Edelstein. The film also features other actors from the aggressor country, namely Alexey Serebryakov and Daria Ekamasova.

Iranian filmmaker Mohammed Rasoulof, who escaped from prison and whipping in his homeland, has won a special jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival for his story "The Seed of the Sacred Fig" about a judicial investigator whose family life is destroyed during anti-government protests.
