A stormy wind is raging in Kyiv

Since the morning of October 28, Kyiv has been experiencing strong winds with gusts of up to 22 m/s. In a few hours, the storm caused a lot of damage in the capital: dozens of trees fell, and concrete fences were knocked down in some places.

Residents of the capital are warned that dangerous natural phenomena will continue until the end of the day. This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration on Telegram (scroll to the bottom of the page to see photos and videos).

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has declared the second level of danger. Such weather conditions can cause traffic disruption on certain sections of roads and streets. In this regard, residents and visitors of the capital were urged to be careful when outdoors.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv, a tree fell on a car in the Sviatoshynskyi district. At the scene, rescuers freed the vehicle from the trees and cleared the roadway. In addition, the car was towed out of the danger zone.

Kyiv Telegram channels report that a part of the facade of a high-rise building was blown off by strong winds, and a concrete fence fell on parked cars in a residential complex.

The Kyiv City State Administration reported the first victims of the storm. A tree fell on a person in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Doctors tried to resuscitate the man, but he died of severe injuries. A woman also suffered a spinal injury due to falling branches. The victim was hospitalized.

As a reminder, on Saturday, October 28, strong winds with gusts of up to 23 m/s are raging in a number of regions of Ukraine, and it is raining. The hurricane is knocking down trees in Kyiv and Kharkiv, while some settlements in Lviv and Rivne regions left without power.
