Explosion at military air base in Lipetsk: new details of drone attack on Russia emerge
On the night of December 17, explosions were heard in the Lipetsk region (RF). The occupiers reported on the allegedly "successful" work of air defense and the "destruction" of dozens of UAVs.
However, later it turned out that the explosions occurred on the territory of a military air base. This information was confirmed to OBOZ.UA by sources in the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
According to the legend of the Russian Defense Ministry, 33 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were allegedly "destroyed and intercepted" by regular air defense systems over the territories of Lipetsk, Rostov and Volgograd regions. Residents of the aggressor country in these regions complained of powerful explosions, and later photos and videos of fires were posted online.
In addition, the Russian military's lies were exposed on the afternoon of December 17, when photos of a damaged Russian Su-34 fighter jet at an airfield in the Rostov region were posted online.
After that, it became known that the explosions occurred on the territory of an air base in the Lipetsk region. The invaders claimed that a "downed" drone had allegedly exploded at the military facility. At the same time, the Russians claimed that "there were no injuries or casualties.
"It is worth noting that the 4th Center for Combat Use and Retraining of Flight Personnel is deployed at the airfield in Lipetsk. At this facility, the occupiers train flight and engineering personnel, as well as develop methods for the combat use of aviation systems.
At the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, satellite images showed that the number of aircraft at the air base in Lipetsk had almost doubled. The Ukrainian Air Force Command then reported that the Russian occupation army was attacking Ukrainian cities in the eastern part of Ukraine from this airfield.
Satellite images show that the Russian invaders have concentrated dozens of different fighters and bombers at the military facility in Lipetsk.
As a reminder, the Russian occupiers once again complained about a nighttime UAV attack and claimed that they had shot down all the drones. However, a few hours later, photos appeared on the Internet confirming another lie of the Russians. In particular, the photo shows the wreckage of an attack drone near a damaged Su-34 fighter jet.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on December 16, it was loud in the Russian city of Taganrog, where residents noticed a column of black smoke after the explosions. Helicopters were immediately sent into the sky, but the authorities did not comment on the emergency in the city, which Russia uses to redeploy military equipment to the front in Ukraine.
