Experts explained how to prepare the garden in spring

Timely spring pruning and spraying of plants is an important stage of garden care. A comprehensive and correct approach allows you to:

  • form the shape and height of the crown, improve its illumination and ventilation;
  • prolong the health and longevity of the tree;
  • prevent the appearance and activity of pests;
  • improve fruit quality;
  • make the yield stable.

To ensure that the procedures bring the desired result and do not harm the plant, it is necessary to follow the recommendations for choosing a garden tool, time and method of pruning and spraying.

Features of spring pruning of trees

There is no exact time for pruning trees. In general, it is better to focus on the condition of the plant. It is recommended to carry out this procedure when the plant is dormant and there is no active sap flow. It is also important that the weather is clear and the air temperature is not lower than -5°C. Trees should be pruned according to their age, condition, and ultimate goal:

  1. Formative pruning allows you to set the correct appearance of the crown. It is carried out from the second year after planting;
  2. To maintain the result of the previous pruning, it is necessary to carry out regulatory pruning for the formed tree. At this stage, dry and empty branches are removed, and the center of the tree is freed up for access to the sun and light;
  3. For trees in poor condition, restorative pruning is carried out, and rejuvenating pruning stimulates the growth of branches of aging plants, prolongs their life and fertility, minimizes the possibility of disease and parasite infection, and increases frost resistance.

Remember that spring pruning is stressful for the plant and can weaken it, so follow the recommendations for weather conditions, the rules for a particular type of pruning, and use a quality tool. When finished, provide care: fertilizers, watering, loosening the soil, etc.

Treating trees for pests

Time for spraying also depends on the weather and climatic conditions in the current year. In addition, it should be understood that this is not a one-time procedure and is carried out in several stages during the season: from the first warm days to fruit setting. Before starting to care for the plants, it is necessary to prepare them: free the branches from snow residues, cut off dry and damaged ones, inspect the crown, clean the trunks and process the trunk circles.

Stages of treatment:

  • preventive spraying in early spring;
  • the green cone;
  • the pink bud;
  • treatment after flowering.

To effectively treat trees, you need garden sprayers.
