The Kyiv metro has finally dismantled the sign with the old name Square of Leo Lolstoy of the renamed metro station Square of Ukrainian Heroes. The work was carried out at night.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Metro. The decision to rename the station was made in May 2023.

"Friends! The former name of the station Leo Tolstoy Square was dismantled from the track walls at the metro station Ukrainian Heroes Square. The work was carried out at night. Currently, there are no new inscriptions on the walls. However, they will appear soon as work is already underway. The creation of new letters is a painstaking task due to the peculiarity of the historical style of fonts. Each letter is made individually in compliance with all proportions, radii, sizes, etc.", the statement reads.

It is worth recalling that in May 2023, the Kyiv City Council renamed two metro stations: Leo Tolstoy Square was renamed to Ukrainian Heroes Square and Druzhba Narodiv Square to Zvirynetska.
