Chelsea halts Mykhailo Mudryk training
Chelsea's Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been suspended from training at the club's Cobham base, journalist Ben Jacobs reports on social media site X. According to the source, the teammates of the 23-year-old Ukrainian national team player were informed that he was caught in a doping scandal on December 17.
Chelsea's head coach Enzo Maresca is aware of the situation, but he is not personally dealing with this particular issue.
As reported, Mudryk passed a positive doping test in late October. The athlete has now requested the "B" sample.
Mykhailo confirmed that the test showed the presence of a banned substance in his body. Our compatriot said he was shocked by the results because he had never used doping.
According to preliminary information, it was meldonium (mildronate) that was found in Mudryk's sample. This drug, which has become particularly popular in Russia since 2014, is strictly banned.
