The small town of Bankso, located in the Pirin Mountains in southwestern Bulgaria, is gradually becoming a popular tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Known for its accessible ski resorts, Bankso is now striving to attract tourists not only in winter but throughout the year.

Visitors are attracted not only by the ski slopes, but also by the picturesque landscapes, ancient architecture, and rich biodiversity of the Pirin National Park, the Express writes. The main winter attraction of Bansko is the ski slopes, which offer trails for different levels of training, from beginners to experienced athletes.

The resort is famous for its moderate prices and relatively small number of visitors, which makes it an attractive option for those who want to relax in the mountains of Europe on a budget. However, the town is now actively developing infrastructure for tourists to attract visitors in the summer as well.

Pirin National Park, where the resort is located, is an ideal destination for nature lovers. Visitors can enjoy crystal-clear lakes, picturesque forests, and mountain ranges, which create ideal conditions for hiking, camping, and ecotourism. The region is also characterized by a rich biodiversity: rare species of birds, deer, and other wildlife can be seen here.

Bansko's old town also attracts visitors with its medieval charm and winding streets that are reminiscent of historic European cities such as Dubrovnik or Montenegrin towns. Historic buildings and squares in the center of Bansko create a unique backdrop for modern coffee shops, bookstores, and other establishments where vacationers can experience the spirit of antiquity combined with the comfort of modernity.

Bankso is also gradually developing its cultural program to attract tourists to various events throughout the year. The local community organizes jazz concerts, opera festivals, and open-air music evenings on the town's Nikolai Vaptsarov Square. Such events help to create an atmosphere that makes the place interesting not only for sports fans but also for cultural tourism enthusiasts.

Bankso is easy to get to: the city is located just two hours away from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, where regular buses run.
