"Can't be guaranteed": WBO makes statement on Usyk-Fury rematch

The WBO spoke about the rematch between Usyk and Fury

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is ready to organize a rematch between Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs). The decision on this issue will be made after the first fight between the Ukrainian and the British, which is scheduled for May 18.

WBO President Paco Valcarel said this in an interview with Boxing Social Youtube channel. According to the official, his organization is interested in Usyk and Fury having at least two fights, but it is not known whether all four belts will be at stake in the rematch.

"Of course, we are going to organize two fights. We will be able to authorize a rematch. But first, let's see what happens next. Because in boxing, you can't guarantee anything at all. Let's wait to see what happens, what the outcome is, and then we'll start acting on that basis," Valcarel said.

It should be noted that the day before, promoter Eddie Hearn informed that, according to the organizers of boxing nights in Saudi Arabia, the winner of the Usyk-Fury fight on May 18 will fight the strongest in the confrontation between Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) and Francis (0-1, 0 KOs).

At the same time, the Ukrainian's team has already decided on a boxer who will replace Tyson if he refuses to enter the ring again. If the Gypsy King, as the Briton is called, does so, he will also face a multimillion-dollar fine.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Tyson Fury's father John sharply attacked Oleksandr Usyk's team representatives after they questioned the British boxer's injury.
