Britney Spears admits for the first time that she had an abortion in a relationship with Justin Timberlake: the singer was against the child

In 1999-2002, the world-famous American singer Britney Spears dated her colleague Justin Timberlake. As it turned out, the singer of the hits Baby One More Time, Oops... I Did It Again, Toxic, and other hits, she became pregnant at the age of 19 by her star boyfriend, but was eventually forced to have an abortion.

Timberlake initiated the decision not to keep the child. He was not happy about the news of the possible addition, as he considered himself and Spears too young to start a family. The pop icon of the noughties first spoke about this in her memoir The Woman in Me, which will be released on October 24, and the relevant excerpts from the book were exclusively published in People magazine.

Thus, the star recalled that at that time, 20-year-old Timberlake was "not happy" about her pregnancy.

"He said we weren't ready for a child to come into our lives," Britney was quoted as saying in the article.

According to the singer, she did not know whether the procedure was the right decision, and that she would not have had an abortion if the choice was "left up to her." However, Timberlake, as Spears wrote, was "pretty sure he didn't want to become a father."

Nevertheless, the artist admitted that at the time she took the abortion absolutely normally and was not offended by her lover for putting her up to this decision.

"It wasn't a tragedy for me. I loved Justin very much. I always expected that one day we would have a family together. It just all happened much earlier than we expected," the 41-year-old star recalled.

After that, Britney became a mother twice, but from another man. Married to Kevin Federline, she gave birth to sons Sean Preston and Jaden James, who are now 18 and 17 years old, respectively.

Timberlake, after breaking up with Spears, released the track Cry Me A River, which brought him worldwide fame. He dedicated the song to his ex-lover, saying that she had left him for someone else. The singer did not expect such a blow from her ex, accusing him of defaming her name. It took Timberlake another 20 years to find the strength to publicly apologize to his colleague and former lover.
