Britain talks about postponing the Usyk-Fury fight and gives the reason
Former world champion Carl Froch has expressed confidence that the fight between Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion will not take place on February 17. According to the Briton, his compatriot needs more time to prepare because of the Christmas holidays.
Froch said this on his YouTube channel Froch on Fighting. The former middleweight boxer said that Fury will not train in late December and early January, which means that the promoter will have to postpone his fight against Usyk to March.
"Tyson needs to spend the New Year and Christmas without relaxing, drinking, or overeating. Of course, Fury doesn't need to be engaged in weight cutting, but he still needs to lose a couple of kilograms for optimal fitness. And it won't be easy. He has a wonderful family - a wife and seven children - and he will want to spend time with them. Will he want to train without a break to be ready for February? I'm not sure. I think the fight will be postponed to March. This is the first time this has been said. I'm optimistic about the fight itself, but I doubt it will be in February," Froch said.
On November 16, a press conference was held in London to officially announce the confrontation between the British and Ukrainian. Interestingly, the boxers almost fought during the duel of the eyes. In addition, Usyk admitted how the postponement of the fight affected him. Oleksandr also paid a number of compliments to his British opponent.
Earlier, our compatriot urged journalists not to ask him questions about Tyson. And during the WBC congress in Tashkent, a local media representative touched Usyk by asking a question in Ukrainian.
In addition, bookmakers have abruptly changed their quotes for the Usyk-Fury fight. In turn, Oleksandr spoke about what he would do after defeating Tyson, who recorded a video message to the Ukrainian with a promise to knock him out by the end of the fourth round.
News from the British boxer's training camp was also announced. And the legendary Evander Holyfield explained why Usyk will win the fight against Fury. In turn, the Ukrainian did not disclose his tactical plan for the fight.
The legendary Russian champion Kostya Tszyu gave his prediction for the fight between the Ukrainian and the British. The Gypsy King himself admitted that he is not interested in the title of absolute champion.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Tyson Fury's father John Fury spoke about the problems of his boxer son before the fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
