"Boring. Like sparring": Russian ex-champion didn't like the way Usyk beat Fury in the rematch
Russian mixed martial arts fighter Oleg Borisov criticized Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) for their rematch on December 21. The former champion of the so-called Absolute Championship Akhmat expressed the opinion that the fight between the Ukrainian and the British fighter was allegedly uninteresting and boring.
Borisov said this in an interview with mma.metaratings.ru. According to the 39-year-old native of Kostroma, Usyk's skill and superiority over his opponent is beyond doubt, but unlike the first fight in May, there were no highlights in the bout.
"Usyk is a great master, but he's boring. That's not what you expect from a heavyweight. He's handsome, the best in the world, but I'd like to see more fun. For me, his fight with Fury looked like a sparring match. There was a knockdown in the first fight, it was fun. Tyson was saved by the referee. If Usyk had landed a couple of punches, it would have been even harder for Fury. The second fight was boring. I evaluate it as a spectator. But Usyk's technique speaks for itself," Borisov said.
Earlier, former world champion Mairis Briedis advised Usyk to end his career. At the same time, the media reported about Usyk's unexpected heavyweight rival. The Ukrainian has already been challenged by Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), the holder of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) heavyweight belt.
The Briton is looking forward to a rematch with our compatriot after his defeat in August 2023. Back then , Oleksandr defeated his opponent by TKO in the ninth round, and the Londoner scored with a dirty punch below the belt.
Manager Aegis Klimas told us when Oleksandr plans to return to the ring. Artificial intelligence has already made a prediction for the Ukrainian's fight.
Earlier it became known that Usyk may give up one of the championship belts to return to the ring of the legendary Wladimir Klitschko (64-5-0-1, 54 KOs).
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, a video of what Tyson Fury wrote on the flag of Ukraine after his defeat by Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch has appeared. In addition, our boxer was named the best heavyweight of the twenty-first century. The fees of the opponents for the second fight also became known.
