It has become known that a film adaptation of the popular novel by Colleen Hoover "Verity" will soon be released. Actress Anne Hathaway and director Michael Showalter are launching their next big project together.

Hathaway is set to star in Amazon MGM Studios' feature film "Verity," based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name. The details were published by Deadline.

The story tells the story of Lowen Ashleigh, a young writer who was on the verge of financial ruin when she accepted a dream job offer. One day, she is approached by Jeremy Crawford, the husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford (played by Hathaway), who offers her a lucrative contract. All Lowen needs to do is complete Verity's book series, as she has become paralyzed after a car accident.

Upon arriving at the luxurious Crawford estate, Lowen gradually learns that nothing is as it seems. She finds a secret, unfinished manuscript that could reveal horrific revelations about the family's past. It seems that Verity made the entries in the form of a diary, not expecting anyone to ever read them. The text is full of frank details about the couple's life and even touches on the death of their daughter.

Lowen hesitates to show the manuscript to Jeremy because he realizes that it will destroy him. The main intrigue is to understand: who is Verity – a brilliant writer and a victim of circumstances or a crazy manipulator and criminal?

In 2018, Colleen Hoover self-published "Verity." The novel became very popular among readers, so in 2021, Grand Central Publishing acquired the rights to it. "Verity" is constantly on the bestseller lists, and last year's sales reached more than a million.

Critics call "Verity" a gothic thriller in the spirit of Daphne du Maurier's "Rebecca" and Gillian Flynn's "Gone Girl."
