A world record and four golds. Ukraine had a great day at the 2024 Paralympics. Results of September 3

Our compatriots showed excellent results

On Tuesday, September 3, the Ukrainian national team won four gold medals at the 2024 Paralympics. This allowed our team to rise to 7th place in the overall standings.

Athlete Oleksandr Yarovyi won the shot put in the F20 class (mentally challenged athletes), setting a new world record of 17.61 meters. Another Ukrainian, Maksym Koval, came in third.

Swimmer Yuriy Shengur won the 100m backstroke final in the S7 class (swimmers with physical disabilities). Another Ukrainian, Andriy Trusov, came in second.

Commenting on his victory, the 21-year-old native of Poltava region could hardly contain his emotions, recalling the terrible rocket attack of the Russian occupiers on the institute in Poltava.

Athlete Yulia Shulyar won gold in the women's 400 meters in the T20 class (mentally challenged athletes). The 27-year-old native of Zhytomyr ran her career-best time of 55.16, beating her closest rival by 0.07 seconds.

On the final day of the competition, Natalia Kobzar won the ninth gold medal for Ukraine in the 400 meters in the T37 class (athletes with cerebral palsy and other musculoskeletal disorders). The 24-year-old from Kremenchuk covered the distance with the best result in her career (1:00.92).

It's worth noting that in addition to the highest medals, on the sixth day of the Paralympic Games in Paris, Ukraine won three more silvers and three bronzes.

Olena Fedota-Isaeva won the bronze medal in wheelchair fencing, defeating her Chinese opponent 15-3 in the consolation final. Ihor Nimchenko was second in the 100-meter butterfly in the S10 class.

Swimmer Danylo Chufarov won silver in the 200-meter medley in the SM11 class, and athlete Oksana Boturchuk (along with guide Mykyta Barabanov) finished third in the 400-meter dash.
