Low-cost Leapmotor models are winning the hearts of buyers. Their launch is being prepared by Peugeot, Citroen, and Fiat under the wing of Stellantis, which is a partner of the Chinese automaker. The new Leapmotor C16 crossover has already caused a stir.
Details have become known to CarNewsChina. Orders for the new Leapmotor C16 have been accepted recently, but in the first 24 hours, about 12,000 applications were collected. Potential buyers were attracted by the size and price.
The novelty is a relative of the Leapmotor C10, which will appear in Europe. This model will be sold by Stellantis together with the budget electric car Leapmotor T03, which costs $9000 in China. The European price tag will be about 20,000 euros.
But the C16 crossover is a big car. The body length is 4915 mm with a wheelbase of 2825 mm, width is 1905 mm, and height is 1770 mm.
The model will be offered in a 288-horsepower electric version (range of about 500 km) and with a 218-hp gasoline engine. The price of the Leapmotor C16 starts at $28,000 in China. If this model appears in Europe, the price will approach $50,000.
