A common habit that eats up your smartphone's battery: what you shouldn't do

How to keep your smartphone charged longer

Many people complain that their phone runs out of power quickly, even if they don't use it actively. To extend the battery life, people usually turn off Bluetooth, turn down the brightness, and close all applications running in the background.

However, Konsitantyn Horbunov, an expert in the field of protection against network threats and a developer of web projects, noted that some of the life hacks that are supposed to extend battery life, on the contrary, drain it faster and damage the battery.

The habit of constantly closing all applications running in the background will not help you save precious battery power. On the contrary, it can negatively affect the battery life of the device.

Horbunov compared the process of launching apps to warming up a car in winter. Both actions entail high energy losses. That is, when an application is forced to start from scratch after being completely closed, the main load falls on the processor and battery. In addition to increasing battery consumption, this also leads to battery wear.

Instead, when an app is running in the background, it consumes a tiny amount of power, but because its state and data are stored in the device's memory, Android can quickly launch the app without having to reload it completely. As a result, it saves battery life.

Therefore, it is better to leave your device alone if you need to save as much energy as possible.
