You can't take your eyes off: top of the most beautiful theaters in the world
When traveling to famous cities, we often avoid attractions where we can immerse ourselves in a completely different world. In fact, there are many reasons for this behavior. Some people have little time. Some people don't like opera or performances. And there are people who have never even thought of visiting such centers. Today we will try to convince you to visit these cultural locations. So where to visit is described below.
Royal Theater, Spain
The Royal Theater is located in Madrid. It was opened on the initiative of Isabella II in 1850. The first performance was a great opera by Gaetano Donizetti "The Favorite".
From 1862 to 1925, the Madrid Conservatory, the country's leading higher educational institution in the field of music, was located here. In 1969, the Eurovision Song Contest was held here.
In the early days, Marietta Alboni, Rosina Penko, Marietta Gassaniga, and others performed here. In 1863, the famous Italian composer and conductor Giuseppe Verdi came here for the premiere of his opera.
By the way, a significant number of seats have a limited view of the stage. Therefore, a live broadcast is held here, which is projected onto the side walls.
Gran Teatre del Liceu, Spain
Located in Barcelona. It was built at the expense of private individuals in 1847.
In 1861, the attraction survived a devastating fire, and in 1893 it became a victim of a terrorist attack organized by anarchist Santiago Salvador. A bomb explosion during a performance killed 20 people. Despite these tragic events, the house of culture reached its heyday again in the 1920s.
By the way, the hall seats over 2,000 people, making it the second largest in Europe.
Opera Garnier, France
It is located in Paris. It was designed by French architect Charles Garnier. The theater was decorated by 14 painters and 73 sculptors.
We advise you to pay attention to the central staircase of the lobby. They were made of colorful marble. The foyer was decorated with gilding, mosaics, mirrors and paintings.
These walls also house the Bibliotheque-musée de l'Opera museum, which is a branch of the National Library of France. It houses more than 8,000 exhibits related to music and dance.
The French ballet dancer and bibliophile of Ukrainian origin Serge Lifar also worked here. He staged about 200 performances.
Vienna State Opera, Austria
Located in Vienna, it is the largest theater in the country. It is characterized by an elaborate exterior and luxurious interior decor.
The cultural building was founded in the middle of the seventeenth century. Between 1938 and 1945, it suffered a decline. During the American bombing, the building was partially destroyed. It was restored 10 years later.
The interior of the attraction was decorated in the French Neo-Renaissance style. However, local residents did not like it. They considered this manifestation to be excessively wasteful and tasteless. Unfortunately, the architects passed away one by one as a result of this public reaction.
An interesting fact: the Vienna Ball, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is held here every year. Women wear evening dresses and men wear tailcoats. The main guest of the event is the President of Austria.
Sydney Opera House, Australia
It is located in Sydney. It is considered the main historical landmark of the country. It is famous for its sail-shaped roof.
It has more than 900 rooms: Concert hall, restaurants, reception room, etc.
The idea for the building came from the English composer Eugene Ainsley Goossens. The state government gave permission for the construction, but put forward a condition not to spend public funds. The competition was won by the project of Danish architect Jorn Utzon. He proposed to make a cyclopean podium of white roof. He borrowed this style from Chinese sculptors.
The work was completed by Peter Hall, who had experience in building university buildings. He did not understand music and acoustics, so the interiors inside do not match the exterior luxury.
An interesting fact: the opening ceremony was attended by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973.
La Scala, Italy
It is located in Milan and is one of the leading opera houses in the world. The cultural center was built on the site of the Santa Maria della Scala church in 1776-1778. The architect was Giuseppe Piermarini.

The attraction is famous for its unusual acoustics. The outstanding Italian conductor and cellist Arturo Toscanini performed his works here.
Ukrainian singers have also performed here. In particular, Solomiya Krushelnytska, Yevheniia Zarytska, and Viktoriia Lukianets.
