With a view of the ocean. The network showed impressive photos and videos of an underwater house that will be opened to people in 2027
Impressive photos and videos of the underwater house were posted online. The British technology company Deep hopes to make "permanent human presence underwater" possible as early as 2027.
The first step is an underwater habitat called Sentinel, which is designed to accommodate people at a depth of 200 meters for 28 days. The creators of the unique structures say that it will allow people to reach the deepest point where sunlight reaches the ocean, TheSun reports.
200 meters is an extraordinary depth that humans cannot reach without expensive and specialized equipment. However, the British marine research company Deep says its Sentinel house will allow people to reach such depths in comfort and in relative luxury.
"We designed Sentinel to be a great place to live and work. This means a great night's sleep, delicious and nutritious food, and a warm and pleasant living environment that doesn't feel cramped," explained the creator of Sentinel Deep.
According to the company's developers, guests will be able to enjoy the beauty of the deep sea through giant windows right from their bedroom bed.
"It makes no sense to send people to the bottom of the ocean and not allow them to see the majesty of what surrounds them. Not only does this make Sentinel an amazing place to live, but it also encourages the scientific discoveries that will be possible through constant observation and the discovery of things no one has seen before," Deep said on his website.
Interestingly, the Sentinel space is designed to last about 20 years. But the developers emphasize that it does not need to be in one place all this time. After all, the house can be moved.
According to Deep, the underwater buildings will connect to the outside world via satellite communications and take advantage of renewable energy. Also, each Sentinel will have a "large-scale bioreactor" for waste treatment, meaning there will be no need to jump into the ocean to empty the tank.
The number of people that a Sentinel home can accommodate can vary. "The Sentinel system is suitable for both short-term deployments of six crews and multinational semi-permanent research stations of 50 crews," say the developers of the miracle structure.
Interestingly, due to its modular design, operators can reconfigure the house, repurpose and move components between and even during missions without having to bring them to the surface, Deep emphasizes.
The underwater habitat is also available in two different pressure modes.
"Sentinel is designed to operate at ambient pressure or one atmosphere. Operating at ambient conditions allows the house's two moon pools to be used for diving excursions. Instead, one atmosphere allows for short-term visits to Sentinel by submarine, which is ideal for scientists or media professionals without diving qualifications," explained the scientists of the British company.
