After the sensational second season of "Squid Game," the cult South Korean Netflix series, fans can't wait for the story to continue. The sequel, which was released in late December 2024, left more questions than answers, ending in intrigue.
However, according to the creators of The Squid Game, the third season of the series will not be long in coming. On January 1, the network showed a teaser, which was quickly removed from the YouTube page of Korean Netflix. Smart users managed to take a screenshot showing that the premiere of The Squid Game 3 is scheduled for June 27, 2025.
The streaming service has published a full video on the X platform, announcing the return of the thriller to the screens. In it, you can see the doll Young-hee, whom viewers might remember from the game Red Light, Green Light.
The participants of "Squid Game" are approaching her, and their costumes have serial numbers on them. However, Young-hee was not the only one who appeared in the teaser – fans were also introduced to a new character, Chul-soo, who is a male version of a robot girl. It was their creators who put them on the first official poster of "Squid Game 3."
Squid Game's second season debuted at number one in 93 countries since its release on December 26 and within two days topped the top 10 series on Netflix, including the top in the US, France, Mexico, the UK, Hong Kong, and Turkey. The thriller is currently ranked first on Ukrainian Netflix as well.
Sequel tells the story of Gee Hong, who returns to the game with the aim of revenge, a fierce confrontation between the Frontman, the host of a cruel show, and the real game that starts again. The protagonist, the participant number 456, tries to put an end to the bloody struggle for money.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote about rumors about the third season of "Squid Game." The network rumored that Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who is a fan of the show, could get a cameo role in the continuation of the thriller.
