World lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (23-0, 11 KOs) is outraged by attempts to organize a rematch between Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) for all the super-heavyweight belts. According to the American, Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) was supposed to fight the Briton, as planned until February 22, but the Londoner withdrew from the fight due to illness.
Stevenson said this in an interview with the Seconds Out YouTube channel. The boxer, who fights in the weight category of Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs), added that after defeating Martin Bacalli (21-2, 16 KOs), Parker deserved a chance to become world champion in the king's division.
"The rematch between Usyk and Dubois? It doesn't make sense. I don't agree with it. I don't know who is preparing this, but it should be a Dubois vs Parker fight because this fight was being prepared. Parker did what he had to do, he deserved his chance against Dubois. Dubois has already fought Usyk. Why should Dubois miss the fight with Parker? Just because he had an illness? If anyone is going to beat Usyk, Parker will have the best chance. Because of Parker's ring movement and boxing skills. He has the best chance. A lot of fighters are slower and bigger than Usyk, and Usyk knows how to beat those fighters," Stevenson said.
It should be noted that Usyk and Dubois are scheduled to rematch in the summer. The fight between Parker and German Agit Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs) may be on the undercard, which will determine the contender for the fight with the absolute champion.
