People often have dreams that, upon waking up, take a few minutes to overcome. For some reason, most of us have the most plotted and realistic dreams in the spring.

Scientists have tried to investigate this phenomenon, Mirror reports. Martin Seeley, a sleep expert and CEO of Mattress Next Day, explained why dreams become more vivid in spring.

"This is due to the fact that we wake up earlier because of the long daylight hours. It has been recorded that our sleep time is shorter when the days are longer," he explained.

It turns out that in spring, our sleep time is reduced by 25 minutes even if we go to bed two minutes earlier than in winter. This fact, along with the increase in daylight hours, disrupts the cycle of sleep hormones, which leads to more intense dreams.

"This may be due to the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps you fall asleep. It is regulated by light and darkness; when there is more light (for example, in spring and summer), the body does not produce as much melatonin as it does with less light," the expert says.

What do "scary" dreams hide?

The report says that the most common dreams during this period are hair or tooth loss, loss, infidelity, drowning, fire, and spiders.

These dreams are unpleasant and have many interpretations. Inbaal Honigman, a dream analysis expert, offers her interpretations.

Losing teeth can be associated with age and transformation, indicating that a person is afraid of losing something like romance. The same applies to hair loss: an overt or covert experience of aging or the perception of one's image.

Getting lost in a dream can mean that a person does not feel comfortable enough in the realities of life. Also, if you have recently lost a loved one, this dream sometimes indicates that the brain is trying to process your condition and the new order of things, the expert says.

Dreams of betrayal can indicate insecurity in a relationship. Drowning usually means that you feel overwhelmed in reality, to the point where you seem to be losing meaning or a part of yourself.

Spiders can signify a hidden sense of fear, but the expert recommends considering them as inspiration and trying to embody the exact way spiders weave their webs to cope with any difficulties you face.

Fire can have different meanings, so it's important to consider how you felt in the dream. For example, if the flames did not seem threatening to you, it may indicate an internal transformation.
