According to @emsbudgettravel, a blogger who shares ideas for budget tourism, one of the most underrated capitals in Europe is Sarajevo, the main city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In her opinion, it offers a combination of stunning architecture, rich culture, and fascinating history.

Moreover, she called Sarajevo one of the cheapest destinations she has ever traveled to - she spent less than $130 on everything, including the flight from the UK, accommodation, and meals.

Nestled in a valley surrounded by the stunning Dinaric Alps, Sarajevo is where East meets West. The city boasts Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Yugoslav influences that are evident in its architecture, cuisine, and traditions.

The city's old town is a maze of cobblestone streets where ancient mosques stand alongside Catholic and Orthodox churches. There are also endless historical sites here, as Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo in 1914, and the city survived a brutal siege during the Bosnian War.

The Sarajevo Tunnels Museum will tell you all about the Bosnian War. And the historic Latin Bridge marks the site of Franz Ferdinand's assassination with a memorial and museum dedicated to this pivotal moment in history that launched the First World War.

The blogger described modern Sarajevo as a beautiful and safe city with friendly locals. She also recommended a day trip to Mostar, a small city two hours away from the capital. She called the visit the highlight of the trip.
