Optimal will be fertilizers in late August and early October. OBOZ.UA tells what fertilizers are suitable for roses in the autumn period.

What can not feed roses in the fall

It is best to use phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, which help plants to overwinter, as well as improve the process of maturing wood.

But nitrogen fertilizers should not be used, because such fertilizers stimulate the growth of green mass, which is not necessary in autumn.

How to feed roses

You can choose water-soluble fertilizers and apply them with water under the root or spray them on the leaves. If you choose dry fertilizer, the granules should be scattered on the ground around the bush.

Experienced gardeners also advise an effective way of fertilizing.

  • You should step back from the stem 15 cm and carefully make a circular furrow around the rose. Act very carefully, so as not to damage the roots.
  • Then fill the furrow with a mixture of fertilizer and chernozem, so that the plant receives all the necessary substances gradually.

For foliar feeding, you need to dissolve 50 g of superphosphate in 1 liter of hot water, then add another 10 liters of water and abundantly spray the leaves. Do this in cloudy weather or in the evening.

A quality fertilizer will be and wood ash, 200 g of which should be dissolved in 10 liters of water and insist 4 hours.

Spraying during the active sun can cause leaf burns, and processing too late in the evening will provoke the development of fungal spores, since the moisture will not have time to evaporate.

You can try ready-made complex fertilizers, which are rare and granular. In 10 liters of water you need to dilute 16 g of potassium monophosphate and 15 g of superphosphate.

Over-prepared compost should be spread around the bush, without covering with earth. The compost will slowly decompose, releasing useful substances. It will also become an effective mulch for additional protection from frost. On 1 square meter is enough 4 kg of compost.
