The enemy continues to target critical infrastructure facilities. Stabilization blackouts have been reintroduced in Ukraine. However, emergency outages do not always occur according to schedule, making it difficult to plan household chores, including laundry.

Many Ukrainians have already faced situations when the power was cut off and the cycle was not completed. OBOZ.UA tells you what to do with your washing machine if the power goes out in the worst possible moment.

Most washing machines have a built-in mechanical timer that shuts off when the appliance suddenly turns off, and then continues to work from where it stopped. Therefore, most machines can resume the cycle from the moment they are turned off.

At the same time, some models may need to be restarted after the power is restored or you have to write down the moment of stopping.

There is nothing to worry about if the appliance continues to operate after the power is turned on or requires further restarting.

Simply press the Start/Pause button and then Power to turn off the washing machine. Use the button to plug the machine in, select a program and start the wash cycle.

If the appliance does not show any sign of power when it restarts (even when plugged in), try pulling out the plug and then plugging it back in after a few seconds. The machine can start from where it stopped even after such a radical step.

Problems can arise if the machine has a faulty electronic control unit or if you have an older mechanical model. Experts advise selecting another program, such as a spin, to see if it will allow you to restart the washing machine.

In case of prolonged outages, it is better to unplug the machine. Sudden power surges increase the risk of appliance failure.

Experts say that if you need to get the laundry out of the drum but the drum is filled with water, it will be difficult, but not impossible. You have to press first the "no spin" button and then the "spin" one. The machine will drain the liquid and then the door can be opened.

You may need to use the rectangular hatch with an outlet filter located at the bottom of the appliance - there is a drain hose. You can drain the water through the tube into a container. There will be a lot of water - from 5 to 40 liters, depending on the volume of the drum, program and stage of washing.

If the machine still does not respond in this case, try disconnecting it from the power supply, letting it rest for half an hour, and repeating the steps from the beginning.

You can also contact a service center. The technician will conduct a comprehensive diagnosis, find out the problem, and replace the parts if necessary.

Remember that turning the power back on can be more dangerous than the outage. A power surge can cause damage to the electronics and internal wiring.
