What things you can safely take from a hotel room: remember the S rule
Shampoos, soap and sugar - yes! Curtains and sink - no way! Everything seems to sound logical, but sometimes tourists are caught trying to steal such ridiculous items that it is hard to believe. OBOZREVATEL has prepared a list of what you can and cannot take from hotels.
There is an unspoken S rule that has long been introduced around the world, which allows guests to take small items that begin with this letter from their rooms. The main thing is that it includes the words in English only.
Here is what you can safely take with you:
- soap
- shampoo
- shower gel
- shower cap
- slippers
In addition, no one will use you if you take a pen or a travel sewing kit. Still, there is also a huge list of what is best left:
- Towels, pillows, bedding, and bathrobes belong to the hotels. However, some may give you bathrobes with embroidered logos as a souvenir. But this should be discussed in advanced. You don't make this decision yourself.
- It is also advisable to leave cups, kettles, and other utensils in the room.
- If you have a book in your bedside table, you can read it during your vacation, but you should not take it home. Leave it for next visitors.
It is easy to understand why people take towels. However, there are some thefts that are beyond any logical explanation. For example, someone stole a big piano from one of the hotels of Starwood Hotel Group. No one understands how this happened. A sofa and a mini bar (the fridge too, not just its contents) once disappeared from a Dubai hotel. But this is nothing compared to the situation in one of the Holiday Inn hotels in America, where tourists took absolutely everything from the room, including the bed and wardrobe. How they did it is still a mystery.
