The big event in the world of technology has come to an end - Apple has held its annual presentation. And now we know everything about the new iPhones.

CNet decided to help those fans of the brand who are hesitating whether they should take the basic model of the smartphone for $800 or pay more for the Pro model, which costs from $1,000. Its journalists compared all the declared characteristics of the gadgets. Apple will start pre-ordering them this Friday, September 13, and physical sales will begin a week later.

Main Advantage of iPhone 16 Pro - Camera

The main advantage of Apple's iPhone Pro models is a better camera, both for photos and videos. And here the choice is obvious.

When it comes to rear cameras, the basic iPhone 16 is equipped with a 48-megapixel Fusion camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, while the 16 Pro is equipped with a 48-megapixel Fusion camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, in addition to a 12-megapixel zoom. But the front camera of both models is the same - a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera.

In terms of video, the regular iPhone 16 can shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second, in addition to 1080p spatial video at 30 frames per second. The 16 Pro has the same spatial video capacity, but it can also shoot 4K video at up to 120 frames per second. This provides a slow-motion effect.

Displays, Size and Weight

The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display, and the 16 Pro has a slightly larger 6.3-inch display. The regular 16 model has a refresh rate of 60 Hz, while the Pro has 120 Hz. Both have a pixel density of 460 ppi and a peak brightness of 2000 nits.

As for the body measurements, the iPhone 16 is 14.76 cm high, 7.16 cm wide and 0.79 cm thick. The dimensions of the 16 Pro are not much different: 14.96 cm high, 7.13 cm wide and 0.81 cm thick. The basic 16 weighs 170 g, and the Pro weighs 199 g. Materials also differ: the iPhone 16 has an aluminum body, and the 16 Pro has a titanium body.

Both models are equipped with Dynamic Island, as well as an action button and a camera control button. Both the regular iPhone 16 and Pro support USB-C charging. However, neither has a fingerprint scanner, so you will need to use Face ID or a password.

The iPhone 16 comes in black, white, pink, turquoise, and ultramarine colors, while the iPhone 16 Pro boasts black titanium, white titanium, natural titanium, and desert titanium colors. All cases are waterproof and have an IP68 rating.

Batteries, Processors, and Software

Apple doesn't disclose battery capacity, but says the iPhone 16 can play videos for up to 22 hours (18 hours of streaming) and the 16 Pro can play videos for up to 27 hours (22 hours of streaming). Both support 20W charging and MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W with a 30W or higher adapter. They also support Qi2 charging up to 15W.
