What flowers to plant now to get gorgeous beds in the spring

Fall is the perfect time to start planning your garden for next year. If you want to have lush and colorful flower beds in the early spring months, some varieties should be planted now.

Since the weather in early October is still dry and relatively warm, it's the perfect time to plant spring bulbs. Experts have told us which plants will be able to survive the winter frosts and begin to bloom with the first spring sun.

Daffodils

Daffodils have become symbols of spring thanks to their bright and cheerful flash of yellow that heralds the rebirth of nature. Craig Wilson, a gardening expert and founder of Gardeners Dream, emphasized that the main thing is to plant the bulbs in the ground before the first hard frost hits so that the plants have time to take root.

Daffodil bulbs should be planted at a depth of about 10-15 cm and at a distance of 10 cm from each other in well-drained soil. They grow well in full sun or partial shade. Avoid overwatering, as daffodils do not like waterlogging.

Tulips

Tulips offer a wide range of vibrant colors: from dark purple to bright yellow, so there are shades to suit every taste. These elegantly shaped flowers are ideal for decorating garden borders and patios of the estate.

Tulip bulbs should be buried in the ground about 20 cm deep and 10 cm apart. They also like nutritious soil, so it is worth adding peat-free compost to the hole. Tulips grow well in light, drained soil, in beds with plenty of sun. Water them well after planting, making sure the soil remains dry enough to prevent rot.

Irises

Irises are not only attractive but also useful flowers. In the garden, irises will become a key plant for pollinators. Irises will fill the adjacent territory with a pleasant fresh aroma. Bulbs should be planted to a depth of 10 cm and at a distance of about 10 cm from each other.

Alliums

Alliums are simply stunning. The tall stems add interesting accents to the garden. Allium bulbs should be planted 10 cm deep and about 15 cm apart in well-drained soil. They grow well in the sun. After planting, the bed should be watered a little, but in spring, the plants do not need abundant moisture.

Crocuses

Crocuses are undemanding early bloomers. Plant the crocus bulbs 5 cm deep and space them 5-8 cm apart. They do best in well-drained soil. Crocuses will grow both in the sun and in partial shade. The main thing is to keep the soil moist, but not swampy.
