There is an underground city in the US for those who want to survive the end of the world

An American community of like-minded people preparing for the end of the world is looking for people to book a place in the bunkers with them. The underground city in the Black Hills mountain range in South Dakota can supposedly withstand any natural and man-made disasters and accommodate up to 10 thousand people.

This place used to be a large ammunition depot and testing ground, but it has been abandoned for decades. The Metro newspaper told about the intentions of the "doomsday" community.

The Ordnance Depot, now an underground city, was built in 1942 to meet the increased munitions handling needs of the US Army caused by World War II.

For many years, the facility was used to store and test chemical weapons and was also used to hold Italian prisoners of war. However, in 1967 the area was fenced off and closed.

In 2016, the Vivos Group acquired most of the buildings of the former base, which housed 575 dugouts, each with an area of about 224 square meters. After major repairs, they became suitable for relatively comfortable living in the apocalypse.

Dante Vicino, executive director of Vivos, which runs the bunkers, explained that it is not the so-called "elite" who can book places, but ordinary people who want to be prepared for the worst.

"When everyone else is trying to find a solution, our participants will go to their shelter with hundreds of like-minded people. Everyone is ready to lock the doors and survive any threats that may arise above," said the director.

The shelters are equipped for at least one year of autonomous operation without the need for people to return to the surface and are fully furnished.

Dante Vicino cited Covid-19, the war in Ukraine, and tensions with China and the Middle East as reasons for the growth in demand.

There are 4 options for buyers to choose from:

- four rooms with two single beds, one bedroom with a double bed and one bathroom:

- eight single bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote about the bunkers of Russian President-dictator Vladimir Putin. Under the ground, the tyrant has built entire cities with palaces, where there are systems of autonomous air purification, autonomous water supply, medical centers and hospitals.
