Ukraine may open air traffic over the country. This is a complex process, but the country is taking the first formal steps now.

This was stated by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine. "These weeks we are submitting official applications and risk assessments to the relevant regulators," he said.

The head of the ministry noted that none of the officials would give exact dates. But they are really working on the project, it is gradually being implemented.

"It is a complicated process, but Ukraine is taking the first formal steps now. These weeks we are submitting official applications and risk assessments to the relevant regulators. No one will give any definite timeframe," the minister said.

Earlier it was reported that before resuming civilian air traffic, Ukraine needs to radically address security issues. After all, the war is ongoing, and airports can become desirable targets for the enemy.

But this is not the only difficulty with the return of flights - there are also serious problems with insurance and the lack of wartime regulations. Also, flights will require permits from special security agencies, in particular the Air Defense Forces.

As previously reported by OBOZ.UA, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Rostyslav Shurma said that Ukraine is making significant efforts to restore air traffic. Currently, 2 airports are being considered - Boryspil and Lviv. However, the first one is a priority.
