Usyk reveals his next opponent and preferred weight category

Usyk wants to become a two-time absolute world champion

Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) intends to become the absolute world champion in the heavyweight division for the second time. To do this, he plans to meet the winner of the fight between Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) and Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs), in which the Briton will defend the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt on February 22.

Promoter Frank Warren, who handles Dubois' affairs, said this in a comment to the Daily Mail. The head of Queensberry Promotions said that last weekend he talked to Usyk on the sidelines of The Ring magazine's awards ceremony and learned about our compatriot's plans.

"Oleksandr told me at the weekend he will fight the winner of Daniel v Joseph Parker to try to become undisputed heavyweight champion a second time," Warren said.

Usyk was already the owner of all the belts in the division when he defeated Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) last May. However, our compatriot was forced to give up the IBF title for a rematch with the Gypsy King. The trophy eventually went to Dubois, who knocked out Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).

It should be noted that Usyk became a real star at The Ring ceremony, winning three awards. In particular, Oleksandr was named the Best Boxer of the Year. After the show, the Ukrainian published a post on Instagram in which he recalled the events in our country. Usyk also met with Joshua.

On the sidelines of the show, Dubois threatened our compatriot with revenge. At the same time, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia Turki Al-Al-Sheikh announced his intention to organize a rematch between the British and the Ukrainian.

It should be recalled that Oleksandr defeated Daniel by TKO in the ninth round in August 2023, while the Briton hit Usyk below the belt.

In turn, British boxer Frazer Clarke (8-1-1, 6 KOs) called on the Ukrainian to end his career. Usyk himself said he will continue to perform in the ring.
