Usyk presented Zelensky with the championship belt he took from Fury and made a promise. Video.
WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) presented the WBC championship belt to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Oleksandr won this belt on May 19, defeating Fury by split decision - 114:113, 113:114, 115:112.
At the meeting with the head of state, the boxer emphasized that the trophy he was handing over was genuine.
"This is the real one that we took from our fat friend from London. We want you to keep the original belt. We worked for a long, long time to get it," Oleksandr admitted.
Vusyk, showing Zelensky the belt, apologized that there was no photo of Fury.
"Here is mine. Here is the one who founded this belt, Muhammad Ali, Suleiman, Mayweather. And most importantly, since 2018, the main flag here is ours," Usyk said.
In response, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych emphasized that it is not very fair to take away a trophy for which so much effort was spent. In response, Usyk promised to win another one.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on August 19, the head of the General Directorate of Entertainment in Saudi Arabia, Turki Al Al-Sheikh, confirmed the date of the rematch between Usyk and Fury, which will take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
Our compatriot, who holds three major championship belts at once, will defend his titles at the end of this year.
