Usyk ends his career! Sky Sports has published a sensational statement from the Ukrainian
WBC, WBO, WBA and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) has announced that he is retiring. According to the British TV channel Sky Sports, the Ukrainian boxer has only two fights left in his career.
First of all, Oleksandr wants to meet the winner of the Daniel Dubois-Joseph Parker fight. On February 22, at the Riyadh Season tournament, the 27-year-old Briton will defend his IBF world heavyweight title against the New Zealander.
Usyk remains the undefeated world champion, having won all the belts first in the first heavyweight division and then in the super heavyweight division.
In May, Usyk defeated Tyson Fury and became the absolute heavyweight champion. He subsequently relinquished his IBF title but retained the WBC, WBA, and WBO championship belts.
Dubois, having won the vacant IBF belt, will defend it against Parker on February 22. The winner of this confrontation may get a chance to fight Usyk for the world title.
"I will fight the winner - Joseph Parker or Daniel Dubois, no problem," Usyk commented to Sky Sports.
However, the 38-year-old Ukrainian plans to end his career within the next two years and will probably only have one more fight after that.
"I think I have one and a half to two years left in boxing. I feel great, but I'm only preparing for two fights, no more. Only two," Usyk said.
Daniel Dubois already fought Usyk in 2023 for the unified heavyweight title. Back then, he lost by TKO in the ninth round, although at certain moments he caused the champion problems.
The British boxer believes that he has significantly improved his skills and wants to take revenge on Usyk.
"I am getting better, progressing. They say that after winning a championship, you grow as a fighter. I think that's exactly what I am. I'm ready to get back in the ring and beat anyone who is put in front of me," Du Bois said in an interview with Sky Sports News.
