Ukrainian Wikipedia ranks 14th in the world
As of December 31, 2023, the number of articles in the Ukrainian Wikipedia exceeded 1.3 million. This is the 14th-highest figure in the world.
This was announced by Yurii Perohanych, co-founder of the NGO Wikimedia Ukraine. According to him, last year there was at least one article edited every 9.2 seconds on the Ukrainian Wikipedia.
At the end of the year, 51 editors had the status of administrator on Ukrainian Wikipedia. Of them, 567 patrollers (patrollers mark individual edits and entire articles as checked) made 155 thousand checks during the year.
On average, 231 articles are created on the Ukrainian Wiki every day. "By the number of articles, Ukrainian Wikipedia ranks 14th in the world among all language versions of Wikipedia," Perohanych says.
Interestingly, the number of articles on the Ukrainian Wiki decreases in the summer and increases during school and university exams. The peak views were recorded in March (115.9 million) and May (114.0 million).
Most users are interested in Ukrainian geography, history, culture and arts, architecture, museums, military and politics. "The analysis of the list of 2,000 most popular articles of the last year shows that 80 out of 150 most popular articles are about Ukraine, i.e. more than half of them," Perohanych said.
