Ukrainian tennis player Liudmyla Kichenok has become a finalist in the first Grand Slam tournament of the season - the Australian Open 2024. Our compatriot achieved this right in the women's doubles, where she is playing together with Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia.

In the battle for a ticket to the decisive match of the super tournament in Melbourne, the girls defeated the fourth seeds Erin Routliffe (New Zealand)/Gabriela Dobrowski (Canada). The match lasted 95 minutes and ended in two games with a score of 7:5, 7:5.

The fight on the court was very stubborn, but at the decisive moment the Latvian-Ukrainian duo pressed their opponents. Kichenok and Ostapenko had two service aces, 15 active winners and six breakpoints out of eight.

It should be noted that 31-year-old Kichenok has a Grand Slam victory to her credit. Last year, she won the mixed doubles at Wimbledon with Croatian Mate Pavic.
