Ukraine's national team lost its main leader before the start of the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers
Ukraine's women's national team has begun preparing for the first matches of the 2025 EuroBasket qualifiers against Serbia and Portugal.
Unfortunately, Alina Yahupova, the longtime leader and captain of the Ukrainian national team, will not be able to help the national team in the upcoming matches. On Saturday, November 4, our basketball player injured her ankle in a match of the Turkish championship, playing for Mersin.
According to doctors, Alina will be able to return to training in 10-14 days, which makes it impossible for her to participate in the upcoming European Championship qualifiers.
The coaching staff will not call up a player to replace Yagupova, so 11 basketball players will be preparing for the upcoming matches with the Ukrainian national team: Daria Dubnyuk, Yelyzaveta Mitina, Victoria Balaban, Khrystyna Filevych, Olena Boiko, Miriam Uro-Nile, Tetiana Yurkevychus, Veronika Liubinets, Yevhenia Putra, Olha Maznichenko, Vladyslava Voloshyna.
Head coach - Yevhen Murzin
Assistants - Inna Kochubey, Olena Ogorodnikova
We will remind, the national team of Ukraine will play the first qualifying match on November 9 in Belgrade against the national team of Serbia (19:00), and on November 12 at the Olympic Center in Riga will host Portugal (18:00).
